I actually listened to the bible (talking bible thing) today, not because it interests me. Just because its shit. And in genesis at the bigging it says that god put us on earth after creating it, and said multiply and eat the stuff on earth etc. But the twats i was talking to on chistian chat believed the adam and eve story! there seems to be two stories of how we got on earth (and no mention of dinosaurs!).

the 7 days are not to be taken literaly. they are just descibed as a period of time, cos back in the oldest of oldest of days there were no recolections of months or years, just times and days.
And you said there was no mention of dinosaurs, well there is mention of great sea monsters, as most fossils would have been swept away by floods. most visible evidence would have been found on beaches, this would be mans deductions of things.

It's not religion that does that, it's the interpretation of the religion and the reasons a person follows a religion. Quite a lot of people who follow religion as a means to improve their morals are generally very nice people. It's when people follow a religion for reasons with levity (which were probably embedded in their upbringing) that it leads to violence. I personally, am not religious in any way but that doesn't mean I'm wrong or they're wrong. I don't dismiss either side of the arguement. I do however disagree with the forcing of religion on children; I think if people brought them up in a non-religious way and let them decide for themselves then religion would work because the motive would be one of a personal nature.
